I love baking. Actually, I don’t love baking but my kids love eating baked goodies and they’re getting to the age where they love being in the kitchen with me. Plus, I love knowing what goes into what we eat and making something in our own kitchen with our own ingredients is way better than packaged goodies, in so many ways. I happen to be a HUGE Disney fan as well (but I know y’all knew that) and, if you follow me on social media, you probably already know I’m going to the red carpet premiere of Disney’s Christopher Robin (EEEEEK!!!!) in a few days, so Winnie the Pooh cupcakes kind of make sense, right? You too can make these adorable Winnie the Pooh cupcakes – I promise you can. They are not quite as complicated as they might look and I’m the last one that will set you up for a Pinterest fail…no one likes a Pinterest fail.
Adorable Winnie the Pooh Cupcakes (to get you in the mood for Disney’s Christopher Robin!)
[Tweet “Adorable Winnie the Pooh Cupcakes (to get you in the mood for Disney’s #ChristopherRobin”]
Ingredients:
1 package cake mix and ingredients to make cake (of course you can use homemade if you wanna be all show-offy but I’m a box mix girl about 90 percent of the time.)
cupcake liners
1 tub, 16 oz, prepared white frosting (again, make your own if you wish – homemade frosting is actually pretty easy but so is buying the prepared stuff at the supermarket)
yellow food coloring (I used Americolor Soft Gel Paste 107 Lemon Yellow)
24 large vanilla wafers
24 small vanilla wafers
48 small dark brown M&M candies
24 regular size, dark brown M&M candies
2 tablespoons mini chocolate chips
resealable bag
Directions:
Bake cupcake according to package directions and let cool completely.
Do you love silicone baking cups? I do!
Using a bread knife, cut small wafer cookies in half by using a sawing motion. Place large wafer cookies onto a flat surface. Add mini chocolate chips to a small re-sealable bag (but don’t seal) and microwave on high for 40 seconds, checking and kneading after 20 seconds until completely melted. Cut a small tip in the corner of the bag, as small as you can. This makes the melted chocolate a lot easier to work with.
Pipe a small spot for a nose on the large wafer cookie and add a large brown M&M candy. Add a smile and nose crease above the candy nose with chocolate. Repeat until you have 24 faces. Set aside to harden.
Tint frosting with yellow food coloring and mix well. Frost cupcakes and add face to the bottom of the cupcake.
Add 2 ears on the top and 2 small M&M candies for eyes. Repeat until you have all cupcakes decorated.
If your cupcakes don’t look EXACTLY like this, don’t stress. Some of the decorating takes a little bit of practice – I bet your last cupcake will look way more profesh than your first. These are super fun to make with kids, especially now that all the excitement is amping up about Disney’s Christopher Robin. I know I can’t wait to see that silly old bear and all the gang on the big screen!
